Some swear by this stuff, me..Well I'm okay with it. It definitely smokes a Corona, but any beer that tastes better dressed up I really can't wrap my head around. The circle I run around in recommends a piece of Pineapple, not the usual Lemon wedge. I will say this though: This brew does work in the heat.
Here's my review. Upon opening, the first thing to hit the nose were the hop flavors, a slight citrus note, and a little tin that was evident, but in a pleasant way. In the glass the head is gone within a few minutes, there was great color, although the fizz remained all the way to the bottom of the glass. I served this puppy ice cold and it really shined when cold. The hops where a little weak, but present, the citrus is up front and in your face but dissipates with your first breath. Clean refreshing finish, no after taste to speak of with nice sharp bubbles. Don't let it warm up though, it does not drink as nice at warmer temperatures. Here's what I picked up on some random Internet website:
Kalik Gold – Commonwealth Brewery Ltd. New Providence, Bahamas:
Gold lager pours with a solid white head that dissipates quickly. The clean aroma of citrus fruit carries through to the palate. This lemony beer blends with the light husky-malt body. Finishes dry – a pleasant “hot weather” brew. The 7% abv is nearly imperceptible, with no sharp feel of alcohol on the tongue.
All-in-all it's one of the better beers around, Toss your Corona aside and give this great beer a shot next time you're feeling frisky.
